Can we just take a second to discuss this incredible J.Crew Oxford Check coat... and matching skirt? Both are absolute perfection and perfect for fall and winter. I love the bold check pattern, double breasted brass buttons on the coat, and slanted pockets on the mini skirt. And both are 100% wool (not wool diluted with nylon!). This is the type of coat that makes any outfit and will be in your wardrobe for many seasons to come. Pop it over a simple black dress or jeans and you will look instantly chic!
The only thing more gorgeous than this coat is the Yale campus. Seriously, I can't believe people get to go to school and live there. It is truly magical, especially this time of year. My cousin and I headed up to Yale for a little fall weekend getaway. I couldn't wait to wear this coat. Doesn't it just scream ivy league? I was worried it might not be cool enough for a full wool coat yet (it was much warmer in DC), but the minute I stepped out of the car, I was so happy I wore it (and tights!). New Haven was chilly!
Combing business with pleasure, I spent Friday at the Yale Beinecke rare book and manuscript library, which is amazing. Afterwards, we strolled and explored the campus before dining at the hip Elm City Social (you must try the lobster doughnuts and mac and cheese). The following day, we headed out to the countryside to experience a bit of real fall, but more on that later this week.
