Dressing Down Dresses

Living out of a suitcase for three months makes you get creative with your clothes... very creative! While I am certainly not afraid of mixing patterns and colors, I rarely pushed the envelope when it came to dresses. But this summer, I have really made an effort to find new and creative ways to style my wardrobe staple.

Dresses are often perceived as the least versatile clothing item, but they can be worn as skirts and layered in lots of interesting ways! Don't underestimate the power of the dress!

Here are some of my favorite ways to dress down (or up) dresses:
  1. Layer it with a t-shirt or button-up shirt underneath (or on top!).
  2. Wear it as a skirt with a cute sweater on top.
  3. Pair it with a blazer and belt.

Any one have any other tips for making dresses more versatile?

  1. You really showcased that there is a lot more versatility to dresses than anyone would have originally thought. Did you find that you got warm layering a shirt under/over a dress (it's something that would hold me back in the summer)?
