Printable: Girls in Glasses

I think my favorite part about the new Kate Spade campaign is the phrase they are using, "boys make passes at girls in glasses." I knew immediately I wanted to create something with it!

But before I did anything, I wanted to make sure it wasn't an original copyrighted saying. Interestingly, I discovered the phrase was originally coined by Dorothy Parker in the late 1930's. But she actually said, "boys seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses." In 1965 Carole Shelyne, famous for her oversized specs, recorded the song "boys do make passes at girls who wear glasses." Since then, the phrase has been modified and used over and over again. This little bit of history I uncovered made me love the phrase even more, since it embodies a small but powerful symbol of female transformation over the past seventy-or-so years (I also no longer feel guilty stealing it).

I can't wait to frame this and place it on my new desk (which I know I have been hinting at, but promise to reveal soon!).

I loved it so much I couldn't stop and made this one too!

And because I can't get enough of this saying, here are some wallpapers!
